New Secretariat Year and Officer Elections

The secretariat's year is about over, and new terms begin at the next meeting, to be held at Emmanuel Shawnee, October 20th, 10:00 AM. If you are interested in joining the committee to help at a diocesan level committee, please contact a current member, or just show up :-) The annual election of officers will also take place.

Officers have now been elected.
Bud Johnson, Resurrection, OKC, president
Dion Crider, St. Mary's, Edmond, vice-president
Glenn Boyer, St. Andrew's, Lawton, secretary
Jim Mulcahy, St. John's, Tulsa, continues as treasurer

The Secretariat has strong need for fluently bilingual speakers/translators (Spanish). If you qualify or you know someone who qualifies, please contact this site or one of the people above.

The Secretariat also needs helpers. There are large numbers of projects which need completion. You just have to contribute a little bit of time and effort; you don't have to do it all. Be a part of the Oklahoma Episcopal Cursillo Servant Community....Christ is counting on you.

Several members of the Secretariat met with Bishop Ed Monday, November 26, and came away from the meeting very encouraged. Though Bishop Ed admits that he doesn't know how many priests in Oklahoma have "made their Cursillo," he did indicate that he would ask. He will not insist that priests make a journey, but will encourage them to do so. He feels that Cursillo is a great way for a person to develop an intimate relationship with Christ, but did state that it is NOT the only way. There are other groups within the church which have similar functions. Cursillo, however, has a method which is proven. Bishop Ed feels that we need to encourage our Hispanic community and that we need to emphasize that Hispanic weekends are, and can be, "safe" weekends. Bishop Ed encouraged the leadership to submit articles for Oklahoma's Mission, telling us that there is almost always space available. So, be sure to read the January Oklahoma's Mission, inside Episcopal News.
Cursillo #116 is scheduled for the weekend of March 27-30. The Lay Rector is Lauri Watkins, St. Luke's, Bartlesville. Lauri is in the process of forming the team. Mark your calendars so that you can make Clausura on the 30th at 3:30 p.m.
The Secretariat will hold its first meeting of 2008 at St. Crispin's, January 25/26. Note that this is an overnight meeting. Any Cursillista is welcome to attend. Just call one of the officers at least two weeks in advance, so that we can make sure you'll have a room. There is a cost for the weekend, and, right now, I don't know what the cost will be.
The Secretariat continues to need persons interested in helping. You don't have to do it all, just a bit. The greatest need right now is for someone to publish an edition of The Rooster Tale. Any volunteers?

For some really clever Christmas music, try this URL. It's a men's a capella club from Indiana University. Nothing of poor taste; just some excellent singing.
